"What is there to do and see on a family holiday please?" How about a bathing holiday, surrounded by a picturesque alpine landscape? With water sports, cycling via ferrata, or hiking tours? With excursions to alpine animal parks, summer toboggan runs, artisan and mountain farms, ice caves, glaciers or marmots in the high mountains? Or do you just want to relax? You can do this on the pool or lake terrace, at the bar or on the veranda of your mobile home or glamping tent. Be fit and active or lazy, both will make you hungry! So you can treat yourself to something hearty: Vienna Schnitzel, cheese dumplings, a snack with farmer's bread, local bacon, and alpine cheese? Certainly there will be a Kaiserschmarrn, plum dumplings with ice cream, or an Austrian mocha afterwards...
It's all already there. At many campsites in Austria you can even rent bed linen and towels. You only have to make your way to Austria on the (relatively short) way by car or train. If you travel by car to the alpine republic, a Vignette for the windshield is necessary for the motorways. You can buy them before entering the country at rest stops, for example in Germany. A 10-day vignette costs around 9 euros. If you are staying longer, a 2 months Vignette can be purchased for approximately 27 euro or thereabouts.
Many of the well signposted hiking and mountain bike trails start directly at the campsites. How about mountain holidays and glamping in Tyrol with alpine views, holidays at the sun-drenched Carinthian bathing lakes or in the Salzburger Land? Perhaps you would like to go on a pleasure tour in Burgenland and in "Styrian Tuscany". Or camp at the much-sung "beautiful blue Danube" to discover the palace of Empress Sisi and the Court Riding School in Vienna?
