The Bernese Oberland covers large parts of the high mountains of the canton of Berne and the Valais. In summer, the region is a hiking and mountaineering paradise. Also easy to manage with children: many of the well signposted paths in the Haeslital. Or to the Lenker Alpkultur playground and the near-natural water adventure world in the Diemtigtal. Many campsites in the Bernese Oberland even offer winter camping. And it’s no wonder, because among other things there is a ski and snowboard area with a network of 185 kilometres of ski runs.
What about the Sherlock Holmes Museum in Meiringen, the Ballenberg Open Air Museum, and the Grindelwald Home Museum? The Bernese "Zentrum Paul Klee" is an Eldorado for fans of modern art. In Kandersteg a path leads to the Ricola herb garden. How does it smell? Want to whet your appetite? How about fondue, Roeschti, or a Berner Platte - and for dessert a "Mandelbärli", the sweet form of Bern's heraldic animal. Also the Ragusa chocolate is highly recommended; and for the big ones perhaps a Bernese ginger liqueur for dessert or as a souvenir?
