From southern Slovenia you can visit the Croatian capital Zagreb or the bathing bays of the Istrian peninsula. Also a jump to Italy, to Trieste and to the nearby castle Miramare, a visit to the summer residence of the Habsburgs, is worthwhile. The 22 hectare subtropical park is an attraction in itself - and also offers a dream view from the rocks down to the Adriatic Sea.
