The Salzburger Land extends from Salzburg in the north to Bad Gastein in the south, from Tamsweg in the east to the Krimmler Waterfalls in the west. In Salzburg, the city of music, you can explore Mozart's birthplace and home or take a look at the impressive cathedral with the DomQuartier Museum. Children will love the museum Haus der Natur as well as the zoo Hellbrunn in the park of the same name. Spectacular aircraft can be admired in the Red Bull hangar at Salzburg Airport; and by bicycle you can reach the floodplains of the Salzach.
Salzkammergut and Salzburger Land not only offer Alpine peaks, but are also characterised by lakes. Mondsee, Wolfgangsee and Zeller See are water sports and bathing paradises. At Zell you can take the cable car up to Schmittenhöhe - and from here hike over flowering alpine meadows. There are well signposted hiking routes for every taste: from the over 200 mile long Salzburg Almenweg via gorge and ferrata trails, geology, chamois and butterfly paths to the Käferweg. It is also suitable for prams. Paths of pleasure lead you to mountain farmers and alpine cheese dairies. The famous Großglockner High Alpine Road offers breathtaking panoramic views. At the glacier of Austria's highest mountain (almost 3,800 metres) you can often see marmots. Sleep like a marmot - you'll be safe in a mobile home or a luxury tent camping in Salzburger Land!
