Who feels comfortable in and around the water is just as right here as someone who has to sniff the mountain air to switch off. Thanks to its location on the southern slope of the Alps, its climate is almost Italian. Many of the Carinthian campsites are situated on the lakes - for example on Ossiacher, Faaker, Pressegger, or Millstätter See. The largest lake of the federal state in the south of the alpine republic is the Wörthersee. From the observation tower on ‘Pyramidenkogel’ you can look out over the deep blue lake and the surrounding mountain peaks. Your children love slides? Then try the longest of its kind in Europe sliding down from the observation tower - the covered slide is 120 metres long!
At the Carinthian lakes everyone gets their money's worth - the holidaymakers and even the cute monkeys at Landskroner Affenberg. The macaques are enthusiastic swimmers and divers to the delight of the visitors. Of course, the monkeys can also climb quickly. And the next day you can climb up into the mountains? How about a stage of the Alpe-Adria-Trails or a family hike in the Dobratsch Nature Park, a tour through the Nockberge mountains or up to the Millstätter Alpe with its unforgettable lake view? Or you can take the Kanzelbahn up to the Gerlitzen Alpe at 1900 metres above sea level. At the intermediate station, the children can look forward to the parcours with electric snow cats and the bungee trampoline!
