The family-run Monte Generoso campsite, which covers around two hectares, is located directly on the lakeshore. The mostly flat grounds, covered with grass, bushes and trees, are very well maintained. During your holiday at Camping Monte Generoso you can go swimming, pedal boating, paddling or just chilling out. There are flat bathing areas, so that you can romp around in the clean lake water with your children. The shore of Camping Monte Generoso is mainly bordered with stones. Behind the small stone edge, large sunbathing areas await you. The little ones from 3 years onwards will enjoy the playground. Young campers from 0 to 5 years can play, crawl and have fun under parental supervision in the „Kids Corner“.

Parents can enjoy international or Ticino wines or local beer specialities with their meal. In the small shop you can pre-order fresh bread for the next holiday morning and buy delicacies from the region. In Melano, just two kilometres away, you will find a supermarket, pharmacy, bank and more. Or how about a shopping trip through moonlit Lugano, followed by a steamboat ride or enjoying the view from Monte San Salvatore?

You can drive about 20 kilometres to Como. You will reach Milan after a good hour. In the mountains around Camping Monte Genoroso and Lake Lugano you will find numerous hiking and MTB routes of varying difficulty. In the immediate vicinity of Camping Monte Generoso, the cogwheel railway will take you up the mountain that gives it its name. Where is Camping Monte Generoso located?

Camping Monte Generoso is located in a beautiful and shady natural park on an area of about 20,000 m² on the shore of Lake Lugano (270 m above sea level) in the municipality of Melano in Ticino. It is barely 10 km south of Lugano, 20 km from Como and just over 50 km from Milan. It is easily accessible by car or train.

How many pitches and rental accommodations does the campsite have?

The campsite has 150 pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. The pitches are partly separated by hedges and offer a magnificent view of the lake or the mountains. Some pitches are shaded, others are sunnier. All pitches have an electricity connection and access to clean sanitary facilities. The campsite also offers rental accommodations.

What facilities does the campsite offer?

The campsite offers a range of facilities to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. You will find here a bar with terrace, a small shop with fresh products and a restaurant with pizzeria. For children there is a playground and a mini club with animation. For sporty guests there is a tennis court, a football field, a volleyball field and a boccia court. Bicycles can also be rented. The campsite also has a washing machine, a dryer, a changing room and a chemical toilet disposal room.

Is there a supermarket or a restaurant?

Yes, on the campsite there is a small shop with fresh products such as bread, milk, fruit and vegetables. The restaurant offers a varied menu with typical Italian dishes such as pizza or pasta as well as meat and fish specialties from the grill. The restaurant also has a beautiful terrace overlooking the lake.

How can I book the campsite?

You can book the campsite online via the website. The reception is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm.

How do I get to the campsite?

You can reach the campsite by car or by train. If you come by car, take the motorway A2 towards Chiasso/Lugano until exit Melide/Bissone/Campione d’Italia. Then follow the signs to Melano/Monte Generoso/Camping Monte Generoso. The campsite is about 1 km after entering Melano on the right side.


What can I do in the surroundings?

The surroundings of the campsite offer many possibilities for activities and excursions. You can, for example, climb Monte Generoso with the cog railway and enjoy the view of the lake and the Alps. Or you can visit Swissminiatur, an amusement park with miniature models of famous Swiss attractions. There are numerous cycling and hiking trails. For water sports fans there are various offers on the lake such as swimming, sailing, surfing or canoeing.

What are the attractions in the surroundings?

Besides Monte Generoso and Swissminiatur, there are many other attractions in the surroundings. Visit for example the city of Lugano, which is only 10 km away from the campsite. There you can admire the old town with its churches and palaces, visit the art museum Museo d’Arte della Svizzera Italiana or stroll along the lakeside promenade. Or you can make a trip to Como, which is only 20 km away from the campsite. There you can visit the famous cathedral, explore the Volta museum or take a boat ride on Lake Como. Milan is just over 50 km away from the campsite. There you can discover Italy’s fashion and culture centre, marvel at Milan Cathedral or admire Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting “The Last Supper”.

Is the campsite dog-friendly?

Yes, the campsite is dog-friendly. Dogs are welcome on the campsite as long as they are kept on a leash and their owners take care of their hygiene. Dogs also have access to the lakeshore where they can cool off or play3. Please note however that dogs are not allowed in rental accommodations.

Is there Wi-Fi on the campsite?

Yes, there is Wi-Fi throughout the campsite. The Wi-Fi is free for all guests of the campsite.
